Giorgio armani worked for the Italian store group La Rinascente until 1965. in that year he was asked by Cerrutti to redsign their colection. It wasn't , however , unti 1975 that he produced his first range and it was an immediate success. He revolutionised jacket design removing padding and extra lining, he moved buttons and altered traditional proportions and created the his own look ... the destructured jacket. He exploded onto the world scene when , in 1980, he designed Richard Gere's suits in the film American Gigolo.

His Armani Jeans line,launched in 1981,is casual, informal and young. Armani uses this line to experiment with new materials. He took denim from being basic and practical to give it a high fashion profile. 28 years on armani jeans, with its eagle logo, is still breaking the rules, and is one of the most sought after ranges in fashion.
